On Thursday, November 5, 2009, in a domestic act of terror, Army Major Nidal Hasan opened fire in a crowd of soldiers at Fort Hood (Texas) preparing for a service tour of Afghanistan. The rampage resulted in the death of 13 people (12 soldiers and 1 civilian), and injury to at least 38 others.
